IBS ensures that diverse learners all have the opportunity to learn challenging content and achieve at
high levels because we are aware of their individual needs. We seek to provide an individualized approach
to their learner needs. Whenever possible, we seek to maintain their participation in the regular classroom.

Using a unique team approach, our well-trained teaching staff work together to make plans that meet the IBS
curriculum objectives. In a collaborative effort they focus on process writing, skills, information seeking strategies.      Students add to the skills learned in the media center by using internet searching and word processing. A multimedia      production center, set up in the conference room, gives all students an opportunity to use CD’s, Power Point, and      computers as a part of the curriculum.

Believing in continuous improvement, our teachers strive to improve each day by sharing ideas, reading professional      materials and implementing new teaching strategies. However, we also offer school based in service and opportunities      to attend professional conferences. There have been several outstanding workshops for teachers every year which      have dealt with best teaching practices.

Our school uses staff evaluations, the results of student assessment, and school review to make decisions on how
well we are succeeding and how to do better.

Teacher professional development has improved teaching at our school by providing us with the best practices of      successful educators as well as the results of brain based research which improve learning. Workshops on Strategies,      Cooperative Learning, the Eight Multiple Intelligences, Responsibility Training, and on going training in technology
have completely changed teaching and learning from what it was ten years ago. Professional development is the
key to success with teachers as learners.
